Bill Gates’ empire is shutting down in 2045

The Gates Foundation will close by 2045 after spending over $200 billion, marking a major shift in one of the world’s most influential philanthropic efforts.

Announced on its 25th anniversary, the accelerated timeline reflects Gates’s belief in acting urgently to address global health, poverty, and equity challenges.

Gates, whose fortune is valued at $112 billion, plans to reduce his wealth by 99% over the next 20 years.

The foundation’s work has already led to significant global health achievements, and Gates says the next two decades will double that impact before the foundation winds down.
