Bannon Says Trump Could Rule Beyond 2028

In an interview with The Economist, former White House strategist Steve Bannon claimed that plans are underway to help Donald Trump secure a third presidential term, bypassing the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms.

Bannon declared that “Trump ’28” is a real possibility and that “people should get used to it.”

When pressed on how Trump could legally remain in office, Bannon insisted there are “many different alternatives,” adding that details would be revealed “at the appropriate time.”

The comments echo Trump’s own hints about serving beyond his current term, including a Truth Social video portraying him as president indefinitely.

While critics dismiss such talk as rhetoric, some constitutional scholars warn that the 22nd Amendment’s language only bars being elected three times — not necessarily serving a third term under certain conditions.

Bannon’s remarks highlight ongoing debates about presidential limits, constitutional loopholes, and the deepening narrative of Trump as an enduring political force.
