Bali Flights Disrupted After Massive Volcanic Eruption in Indonesia
A powerful eruption from Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki on Indonesia’s Flores Island forced the cancellation of at least 24 flights to and from Bali on Monday, disrupting travel across the region.
The volcano shot ash 18 kilometers (11 miles) into the sky, prompting airlines like Jetstar, Virgin Australia, and AirAsia to suspend operations to key destinations including Australia, Singapore, and South Korea.
Authorities raised the alert level, warned of potential lahar floods, and urged residents to maintain a 6-kilometer safety radius.
Though no casualties were reported, officials are monitoring tremors and ashfall as Indonesia, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, braces for further activity.
