From backlash to U-turn: Trump vs. Cracker Barrel logo

Cracker Barrel, the Tennessee-based restaurant chain known for its Southern-style comfort food, has reversed its controversial rebrand and returned to its classic “Old Timer” logo after a wave of public backlash and direct criticism from President Donald Trump.

The company announced that its simplified, text-only logo unveiled last week would be abandoned following an uproar online, particularly among commentators who accused the chain of going “woke.”

Hours before the reversal, Trump urged Cracker Barrel on his Truth Social platform to “go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response, and manage the company better than ever before.”

Shortly after, the White House claimed credit for the decision, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich saying Cracker Barrel executives acknowledged Trump’s influence and customer outcry.

Shares of Cracker Barrel, which had fallen sharply amid the backlash, rebounded by more than 7% in after-hours trading following the announcement.
