Survey Finds 53% of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Experienced Hate in 2024

A Stop AAPI Hate survey of nearly 1,600 Asian American and Pacific Islander adults revealed that 53% experienced race-based hate incidents in 2024, up from 49% in 2023.

These incidents, ranging from school bullying and workplace discrimination to verbal harassment and physical violence, often went unreported: 40% told no one, and 66% did not notify authorities, believing the acts were too minor or that reporting was futile.

Rep. Grace Meng says this data fills a critical gap, noting how divisive election-year rhetoric emboldened perpetrators.

With 80% expressing concern about the racial climate before Trump’s inauguration, advocates warn that new immigration policies could exacerbate violence.

Stop AAPI Hate’s reporting center continues tracking underreported incidents, many reflecting Trump-era slurs and threats.
