2025 US–Iran Nuclear Talks: April Timeline and Outlook

Following President Trump’s March letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader, the United States and Iran agreed to restart indirect talks over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Three rounds of talks took place in April—April 12 in Muscat, April 19 in Rome, and April 26 back in Muscat—focusing on de-escalation measures, sanctions relief, and limits on enrichment.

On April 28, IAEA experts met in Tehran to hammer out monitoring and verification protocols.

The discussions, met with regional pushback such as criticism from Israel’s prime minister, are scheduled to reconvene in May with the goal of finalizing a comprehensive agreement by June.
