$1 Million Treasure Found off Florida Coast
A team of excavators has uncovered $1 million worth of gold and silver coins from a centuries-old Spanish shipwreck off Florida’s east coast, famously called the “Treasure Coast.”
The discovery, announced by 1715 Fleet – Queens Jewels LLC, includes more than 1,000 coins dating back to a fleet lost in 1715 when a hurricane struck Spanish ships carrying riches from the New World.
Many of the recovered pieces still bear visible mint marks and dates, offering a direct glimpse into history.
Treasure hunters have scoured this stretch of coastline for generations, but this summer’s find is one of the most significant, reminding us how the sea continues to reveal stories hidden for centuries.
