What We Know About Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan
In parallel with the UN General Assembly in New York, President Donald Trump unveiled a sweeping 21-point plan aimed at ending nearly two years of devastating war in Gaza.
The proposal, shared with leaders from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan, calls for a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages, an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and a massive influx of humanitarian aid.
Crucially, it excludes Hamas from governance, instead proposing a new multinational security force combining Palestinians with Arab and Muslim troops, alongside a strengthened role for the Palestinian Authority.
Regional states would fund reconstruction and support the new administration in Gaza.
Arab and Muslim leaders cautiously welcomed the initiative but demanded guarantees against annexation of West Bank territory, protection of Jerusalem’s holy sites, and prevention of Gazan displacement.
Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff described the proposal as a “serious breakthrough,” while regional officials said it marked the first time they felt a comprehensive, actionable peace plan was on the table.
