Virginia Woman Wins Lottery with ChatGPT’s Help Then Gives Away the Jackpot

Carrie Edwards, a widow and grandmother from Midlothian, Virginia, won $150,000 in the Powerball after asking ChatGPT to help choose her lottery numbers—a decision that turned a moment of curiosity into a life-changing surprise.

After playing online for the first time, Carrie used the Power Play option, tripling her prize when she matched four numbers plus the Powerball.

Initially thinking the winning notification was a scam, she later confirmed her win and accepted her prize from the Virginia Lottery.

But instead of keeping it, she donated the entire amount to three causes that reflect her values and honor her late firefighter husband: the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Shalom Farms, and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Carrie says the win was a blessing meant to be shared, and hopes her story inspires others to pay forward their good fortune.
