UN Security Council Condemns Escalation in Lebanon

The United Nations Security Council expressed deep alarm over the escalation of hostilities in Lebanon and called on all parties to urgently return to the cessation of hostilities arrangement.

Council members urged respect for United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, stressing that Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be preserved.

The statement also condemned the reckless decision by Iranian proxies to join the Iranian attacks against Israel beginning March 2, 2026, warning that the move risks dragging Lebanon into a broader war that its authorities and population do not want.

The Council reiterated its full solidarity with the Lebanese people and called for immediate de-escalation.
