Uber and Nvidia Join Forces for 100,000 Robotaxis
Uber and Nvidia have announced a landmark partnership to deploy 100,000 autonomous robotaxis beginning in 2027, marking a major leap toward large-scale driverless transportation.
The collaboration aims to combine Uber’s vast ride-hailing platform with Nvidia’s advanced AI infrastructure to power fleets capable of Level-4 autonomy — meaning vehicles can handle nearly all driving tasks independently.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described the alliance as a defining step in a “global transformation in mobility,” while Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi highlighted Nvidia’s pivotal role in the AI era.
Nvidia is also partnering with major automakers including Stellantis, Lucid, and Mercedes-Benz to accelerate the shift from human-driven cars to autonomous fleets.
Though specific rollout details and manufacturing partners remain undisclosed, experts say Uber’s platform makes it the ideal testing ground for mass deployment.
The announcement places Uber and Nvidia among global frontrunners in the race toward self-driving technology, alongside Waymo and China’s Baidu, both of which are expanding robotaxi networks in Europe and beyond.
