U.S., Israel Strike Iran as Middle East Plunges Into War

The United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes on Iran on Saturday, targeting its leadership and nuclear infrastructure in an operation President Trump named “Epic Fury.”

An Israeli official confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian were both targeted, though Khamenei had been moved to a secure location.

Multiple senior Revolutionary Guards commanders and political officials were killed, according to an Iranian source.

Tehran immediately retaliated, firing missiles and drones toward Israel and U.S. bases across the region.

Explosions rocked Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Bahrain, where the U.S. Fifth Fleet is based.

Qatar said it downed all missiles targeting the country. Global airlines canceled flights across the Middle East as the conflict rapidly escalated.

Trump urged Iranians to shelter in place, warning “bombs will be dropping everywhere,” and called on them to “take over your government” once the strikes end.

Israel closed its airspace and schools, bracing for further retaliation. The strikes follow the collapse of nuclear talks and dim any remaining hope of a diplomatic resolution.
