This Tuscan Village Will Pay You to Call It Home

Radicondoli, a medieval village in Tuscany near Siena, is offering a rare opportunity — and a cash incentive — for people willing to call it home.

The Italian village, once bustling with over 3,000 residents, now faces a serious population decline, dropping to under 1,000 inhabitants.

To fight this demographic “bleeding,” local authorities are offering around $23,000 (or €26,000) to newcomers, including funds for purchasing a home and covering heating and transportation.

The available properties range from centuries-old stone farmhouses to quaint historic apartments, with prices starting near €50,000.

Some require only light renovations costing less than €10,000. However, there’s a catch: buyers must commit to living there for ten years, while renters need to stay at least four.

The initiative aims to bring life back to a quiet Tuscan village — one that’s now paying for its own revival.
