Trump: Some Countries Not “Enthusiastic” on Hormuz Help

Donald Trump said some allied nations have been less than “enthusiastic” about assisting efforts to secure key shipping routes during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking during a lunch with board members at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, Trump said several countries have expressed interest in helping, while others that have benefited from long-term U.S. security commitments appear reluctant to get involved.

The president noted that the United States maintains tens of thousands of troops stationed in allied countries to help protect them from external threats, saying cooperation from those partners matters when global security challenges emerge.

Trump pointed to maritime security operations linked to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, where coalition forces are working to ensure safe navigation for commercial shipping during tensions with Iran.

He suggested some countries have hesitated when asked to provide naval assets such as minesweepers, despite decades of U.S. military protection and security partnerships.

Trump added that allied participation will be important as the United States and its partners continue efforts to safeguard global energy routes and maintain stability in the region.
