Trump Says Iran Halted Planned Executions After U.S. Warning
President Donald Trump said Iran halted the planned execution of hundreds of people after the United States delivered a warning. Speaking to reporters, Trump said Iranian authorities were preparing to carry out as many as 837 hangings but decided not to proceed after being told it would be a “very bad day” if the executions occurred. Trump said no executions took place and claimed the plan has been taken off the table for now, though he cautioned the situation remains uncertain. He said the U.S. is continuing to monitor developments in Iran and did not rule out future action.
