A Trump-Linked Alias Trends After Mystery C-SPAN Call

A caller who sounded strikingly like Donald Trump sparked online speculation after phoning into C-SPAN and identifying himself as “John Barron,” a name historically linked to the president.

The call came shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down several of Trump’s tariffs, with the caller criticizing the ruling in language and tone that many viewers said resembled Trump’s speaking style.

C-SPAN moved quickly to address the rumors, stating that the caller was not Trump. The network said the call originated from a phone number in central Virginia and occurred while Trump was attending a widely covered in-person meeting with governors at the White House, making it unlikely he was behind the call.

The alias “John Barron” carries historical significance. Reports have documented Trump’s use of the name in the 1980s when he spoke to journalists while presenting himself as a spokesperson for his own business.

Trump later acknowledged under oath in 1990 that he had used the pseudonym on occasion.
