Alien Curiosity Returns as Trump Calls for UFO Disclosure
Donald Trump said federal agencies would start releasing government files related to unidentified flying objects and potential extraterrestrial activity, pointing to what he described as strong public interest in the topic.
In a social media post, Trump said he would direct the Pentagon and other agencies to share information, calling the matter “extremely interesting and important.”
The announcement comes amid renewed public fascination with UFO sightings, military investigations and long-standing speculation about classified programs.
Trump also criticized former President Barack Obama’s past public comments about aliens, though there has been no indication Obama disclosed classified material. Obama previously said he saw no evidence during his presidency that extraterrestrials had made contact with Earth, while noting that the vast size of the universe makes the existence of life beyond the planet statistically possible.
U.S. defense officials have spent years examining unidentified aerial phenomena reported by military pilots and sensors.
Pentagon reviews, including a 2024 report, found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology or alien visits, concluding that many sightings were misidentified aircraft, drones or natural phenomena.
Still, government archives contain decades of UFO-related records across multiple agencies. The potential release of those files is likely to fuel public curiosity, scientific debate and political discussion about transparency around unexplained aerial encounters.
