These are the Top U.S. States by AI and Data Center Jobs

The artificial intelligence revolution isn’t just transforming software—it’s creating hundreds of thousands of physical jobs building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers it.

According to 2025 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment tied to AI infrastructure and data centers has climbed to 482,716 jobs in the United States.

California leads the nation with 81,577 positions, accounting for about 17% of the U.S. total, followed by Texas (48,029), Florida (28,682), and New York (27,849).

But when measured per capita, Washington state ranks first with 289.8 roles per 100,000 residents, driven by tech giants Microsoft and Amazon.

Virginia, home to the world’s largest concentration of data centers in “Data Center Alley,” also ranks high, while Utah’s “Silicon Slopes” and Missouri’s emerging Midwest tech hub round out the top performers.

These numbers reveal where the physical backbone of the AI economy is taking root, highlighting the states building the deepest talent bases for this fast-growing sector.
