The U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Iran has entered its fourth day, with the U.S. military confirming six American service members have been killed as joint strikes continue across Iranian territory. Operations have targeted missile systems and command infrastructure following earlier strikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader.
Iran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks, striking U.S. embassies in Riyadh and Kuwait and disrupting regional energy infrastructure. The escalation has driven global oil prices sharply higher.
In Lebanon, the Iran-aligned group Hezbollah has intensified rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel. Israel has responded with expanded counter-strikes, contributing to a growing displacement crisis in Beirut and southern Lebanon.
European nations have not joined the offensive, amid warnings from Tehran that any European military involvement would be considered an act of war.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the strikes were launched to pre-empt what officials described as an imminent Iranian response to a planned Israeli attack. Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are set to brief the House and Senate on the operation’s strategy, risks, and regional consequences.
Meanwhile, the United States Department of State has ordered Americans to leave 16 Middle Eastern countries as the conflict widens.
