Highlights from the first hour of the State of the Union address

President Donald Trump used the opening hour of his State of the Union address to declare that America is in a “golden age,” saying the nation is stronger than ever.

He pointed to lower inflation, falling gas prices, record stock market performance, and what he described as $18 trillion in new investment.

The President also said the southern border is the most secure in U.S. history, adding that fentanyl trafficking and crime are down.

He closed the first portion of his speech by pledging continued economic growth, tax relief, and lower prescription drug costs.
