Tech Giant SK hynix Now Makes HBM Chips You Can Eat
South Korea’s chipmaker SK hynix has stepped into a playful new territory with the launch of its “HBM chips” snack—a honey-banana flavored treat shaped like the company’s high-bandwidth memory modules that power modern AI systems.
The snack, created in partnership with 7-Eleven, aims to bring semiconductor culture closer to everyday life by transforming cutting-edge technology into something fun, tasty, and relatable.
The company, which pioneered HBM semiconductors in 2013 and remains a major supplier to Nvidia, says the snack merges “technological form and sensory flavor.”
The move follows a broader trend of tech giants experimenting with novelty foods, including Samsung’s internal-only “QD Ramen,” but SK hynix is the first to actually sell the concept to the public.
