Russia Sharing Intelligence, Drone Support With Iran: Report
New details are shedding light on Russia’s role in the Iran war, pointing to expanded intelligence sharing and military cooperation with Tehran.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Moscow has provided satellite imagery and drone-related technology to support Iran’s operations during the conflict.
The satellite data can help identify targets before strikes and assess damage afterward, offering more precise battlefield awareness. At the same time, Russia is reportedly sharing upgrades to drone systems, including improvements in navigation, communication, and targeting.
The report also indicates that Russia has provided information on the locations of U.S. and allied military forces in the region. Analysts say some of Iran’s recent tactics — particularly the use of drones in coordinated strikes — resemble methods used by Russian forces in Ukraine.
The cooperation reflects a broader deepening of ties between Moscow and Tehran in recent years, especially since the start of the war in Ukraine.
While the level of support is described as limited, it is seen as contributing to how the conflict is evolving on the ground.
