Rubio Says No Proposal for Military Coalition in Lebanon
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded to a question from Pulse TV correspondent Daniel Compatangelo about whether the administration is considering broader military involvement with regional partners if diplomacy fails. Rubio said he has not heard of any proposal for a coalition of armed forces entering Lebanon to disarm militant groups, calling such ideas speculative. He noted that leaders across the region share concerns about the group’s role in destabilizing the Middle East and acting as a proxy for Iranian influence, but emphasized that no detailed plan for military intervention has been put forward.
