Rubio: U.S. Operation Targets Iran Regime

Marco Rubio said the United States is carrying out a military operation targeting Iran’s ruling regime, which he described as a leading sponsor of terrorism and hostage-taking.

Speaking at the U.S. Hostage and Wrongful Detainee flag-raising ceremony at the United States Department of State in Washington, Rubio said the operation is focused on confronting what he called one of the world’s most significant threats to regional and global security.

Rubio also offered condolences to the families of seven Americans who were killed in the early hours of the campaign. He praised the service members involved, calling them brave Americans who lost their lives as the operation began.

The military campaign, known as Operation Epic Fury, is part of escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran across the Middle East.

Rubio said the operation is aimed at confronting the Iranian regime and reducing its ability to threaten other countries through military force and regional proxies.
