Rubio Highlights Venezuela–Iran Coordination Concerns

Secretary of State Marco Rubio warns that Venezuela coordinated with Iran, raising concerns about regional security. In prepared testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio emphasized that the U.S. is not at war with Venezuela, but the administration is prepared to take action if necessary to ensure compliance with U.S. objectives.

Rubio highlighted that Venezuelan interim leaders have cooperated in certain areas, including energy access and prisoner releases, but stressed that Washington will continue to monitor developments closely. Congress remains divided on the approach, with Republicans largely supporting the administration’s actions and Democrats questioning the effectiveness and scope of recent operations.
