Why Nick Reiner Chose One of Hollywood’s Most Famous Lawyers

Nick Reiner, who is charged with the murder of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has retained prominent criminal defense attorney Alan Jackson, a move that has drawn national attention to the legal strategy ahead.

Jackson is a veteran Los Angeles attorney with decades of experience in complex and high-profile criminal cases, both as a prosecutor and as a defense lawyer.

Before entering private practice, Jackson served as a senior prosecutor in the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, where he handled major violent crime cases and led prosecutions involving serious felony charges.

One of his most notable cases as a prosecutor was the conviction of music producer Phil Spector, who was found guilty of murder in 2009.

In private practice, Jackson has represented a roster of well-known clients, including actor Kevin Spacey, film producer Harvey Weinstein in his Los Angeles trial, and Karen Read in a closely watched Massachusetts murder case that ended in acquittal on the most serious charges. His courtroom style and media presence have made him a familiar figure in nationally followed trials.

Reiner’s arraignment has been scheduled for January 7, after he waived his right to a speedy arraignment. Jackson has urged the public to allow the legal process to unfold without speculation, emphasizing the complexity of the case and the need for careful review of evidence.
