Front Row at Prada: Is Meta Moving Into Luxury AI Glasses?
Mark Zuckerberg’s presence at Prada’s Fall/Winter 2026 show during Milan Fashion Week has sparked industry speculation that Meta may be preparing to expand its AI glasses strategy into the luxury fashion space.
The Meta CEO was seen seated alongside a senior Prada executive, prompting questions about whether a collaboration between the tech giant and the Italian fashion house could be underway.
Reports had already suggested that Meta was exploring partnerships with high-end brands as it looks to position wearable AI devices as lifestyle products rather than purely tech accessories.
Meta currently works with eyewear group EssilorLuxottica to produce its smart glasses, including models released with major eyewear brands. The company said sales of AI glasses surged in 2025, indicating growing consumer interest in devices that blend connectivity, cameras and voice-activated AI features into everyday accessories.
A partnership with Prada could push the category further into luxury territory, potentially reframing smart glasses as status symbols.
However, the expansion comes amid rising public debate around privacy and surveillance.
Critics have raised concerns about facial recognition and the social impact of always-on wearable technology.
