Break-In at Liquor Shop Ends with One Very Hungover Raccoon
In Ashland, Virginia, an unexpected intruder turned a quiet liquor store into a scene of chaos.
Before opening hours, staff discovered heavy damage: bottles smashed along the bottom shelves, ceiling tiles dislodged, and alcohol pooled on the floor.
The source was soon identified, not as a burglar, but as a raccoon that appeared to have consumed leaked liquor. The animal was found passed out on the bathroom floor, seemingly intoxicated after its spree.
Local animal control officer Samantha Martin responded to the call, transporting the raccoon to the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter. Authorities later confirmed that the raccoon sobered up without complications.
The shelter commended Martin for her handling of the incident and clarified that the animal suffered no lasting effects.
