Sen. Jon Husted Focuses on Inflation, Energy Costs, and Tax Relief

Senator Jon Husted says progress is being made on affordability, noting that inflation peaked at 9 percent under Joe Biden and has since fallen to under 3 percent.

Husted emphasized, however, that more work is needed — particularly on food and energy costs. He pointed to the working family tax cut plan as a key step, saying it rewards employment, supports Made-in-America jobs, and allows families to keep more of what they earn. For an average Ohio family with two children, he said the savings could total about $5,000 annually.

The senator also called for permitting reform, arguing it could unlock up to $1.5 trillion in private investment for factories, infrastructure, and power generation projects. He said such reforms would help lower costs, speed up development timelines, and strengthen U.S. competitiveness.

Husted added that Congress has a critical role to play alongside the president in addressing long-term economic challenges.
