Jennifer Lawrence Questions Celebrity Impact on Politics
In a recent interview on The New York Times podcast The Interview, Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence spoke candidly about her changing perspective on political activism and celebrity influence.
The actor, who was once outspoken during Donald Trump’s first presidency and publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in the last election, said she now questions whether celebrity voices have any real impact on elections.
Lawrence reflected on the chaos she felt during Trump’s first term, describing how speaking out often seemed to deepen national division rather than inspire change. She explained that, as an artist, she prefers her work — not her political statements — to convey her values.
Through her production company, she’s backing projects like Zurawski v. Texas, a documentary exploring abortion rights in America. Lawrence emphasized that this creative approach allows her to remain engaged without alienating audiences.
Her remarks come as she promotes her upcoming psychological thriller Die My Love, co-starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Lynne Ramsay.
