How Israelis and Palestinians Are Reacting to the Gaza Ceasefire Deal

Israel and Hamas have reached a major ceasefire agreement that could finally bring an end to more than two years of war in Gaza — a conflict that has killed over 67,000 people and triggered one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history.

The deal, expected to be signed in Egypt, will see Hamas release all remaining living Israeli hostages in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, including several high-profile detainees.

The agreement is part of a 20-point peace plan unveiled last month by U.S. President Donald Trump, which calls for Israel’s phased withdrawal from Gaza, massive humanitarian aid delivery, and the creation of a transitional authority to govern the enclave.

Netanyahu’s cabinet is set to vote on the deal today, marking what could be the first tangible step toward ending the war that began with Hamas’s October 2023 attack on Israel.
