Israeli Producer of ‘Tehran’ TV Series Found Dead in Athens

Dana Eden, the Israeli producer of the award-winning spy thriller series “Tehran,” has been found dead in her hotel room in Athens, Greek police confirmed Sunday.

The 52-year-old was discovered after a relative grew concerned when they could not reach her. While an investigation is ongoing, Greek police officials stated that early evidence and testimonies point to suicide.

Pills were found at the scene, and a coroner noted bruises on her neck. Eden was in Greece filming the fourth season of the show, which just released its third season in January.

The series won best drama at the 2021 International Emmy Awards. Production company Donna and Shula Productions expressed “great sorrow” and urged the public to ignore “unfounded” rumors suggesting a criminal or nationalistic motive.

The entertainment industry mourns the loss of a major creative force behind one of Israel’s most successful international television exports.
