Is a Major U.S. Offensive in Iran Next?
President Donald Trump is scheduled to receive a high-level military briefing on Thursday from CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine regarding potential escalations in the conflict with Iran.
Sources told Reuters that the Pentagon has prepared several aggressive options, including a “short and powerful” wave of airstrikes targeting Iranian infrastructure to break a persistent negotiating deadlock.
Additionally, military planners are proposing a ground operation to seize portions of the Strait of Hormuz to restore commercial shipping, which has been crippled by the ongoing naval blockade.
While President Trump has publicly stated that he views the current blockade as a more effective leverage tool than traditional bombing, this briefing suggests he is seriously weighing a decisive military blow to conclude the war or force Iran to concede on its nuclear program.
