Iran’s Supreme Leader Reported Killed in U.S.–Israeli Strike on Tehran

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is reported to have been killed in a large-scale U.S.–Israeli airstrike on Tehran, marking a historic and unprecedented escalation in the Middle East.

Israeli officials say the operation targeted senior regime leadership and military infrastructure. Reports indicate that as many as 40 high-ranking Iranian officials were killed, including top commanders from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and national security leadership.

President Donald Trump described the strike as justice for years of Iranian-backed violence and urged Iran’s military and police forces to lay down their arms. He pointed to what he called an opportunity for the Iranian people to reclaim their country.

The U.S. administration stated that a transitional governing body, referred to as a “Board of Peace,” could assume authority in Tehran if U.S. forces deploy on the ground. Officials cautioned, however, that escalation risks remain high, particularly from Iranian-aligned proxy groups across the region.

In response, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks across multiple regional fronts. World leaders are urging immediate de-escalation as fears grow that the conflict could expand beyond its current scope.
