Rubio: Iranian Drone Hits Near U.S. Consulate in Dubai

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that an Iranian drone strike hit near the U.S. Consulate in Dubai, igniting a fire in a parking area adjacent to the chancery building.

Speaking to reporters, Rubio said all U.S. personnel have been accounted for and no injuries were reported. He noted that the State Department had already begun drawing down staff at several diplomatic facilities across the region in anticipation of potential escalation.

Rubio said staffing had been reduced to “bare bones” levels in Beirut, Baghdad, and Erbil, among other locations.

He described U.S. embassies and diplomatic facilities as being under direct threat amid the widening U.S.–Israel–Iran conflict. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates said the drone strike caused damage but resulted in no casualties.

The incident marks another escalation as tensions rise across the region.
