How the White House Chose Its 2025 Christmas Tree

The 2025 White House Christmas tree has officially arrived in Washington, continuing one of the nation’s most cherished holiday traditions.

This year’s tree comes from Korson’s Tree Farms, a family-run operation in west Michigan that won the National Christmas Tree Association’s contest, earning the honor of supplying the Blue Room tree for the upcoming season. The farm, founded in 1973, is now run by multiple generations who have specialized in growing award-winning Christmas trees for decades.

The selected tree is an “enormous” concolor fir known for its blue-silver needles and citrus scent, making it one of the most distinctive varieties chosen for the White House in recent years.

It arrived in Washington by horse-drawn carriage, following the long-standing tradition of presenting the tree to the First Lady upon delivery. The tree will soon take its place in the historic Blue Room, a custom that dates back to 1912 and was later formalized by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961.

This year marks a rare moment for Michigan: the state last provided the official White House tree in 1985.
