Hegseth Honors Fallen After KC-135 Crash in Epic Fury
Pete Hegseth paid tribute to U.S. service members killed during Operation Epic Fury, following the crash of an American aerial refueling aircraft amid ongoing military operations in the Middle East.
Speaking about the incident, the U.S. defense secretary said the loss of the crew of a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker highlights the risks service members face as operations continue in the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Hegseth described the fallen personnel as American heroes and said their sacrifice underscores the dangers of war, noting that military operations can involve unexpected tragedy even outside direct combat.
He also said U.S. leaders will honor the fallen service members when their remains return to the United States at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where military personnel are traditionally received with full honors.
Hegseth added that the loss will strengthen the resolve of the mission as U.S. forces continue operations across the region.
