Caine: Epic Fury Intensifies Strikes on Iran Military

Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says U.S. forces are escalating military operations as Operation Epic Fury enters its thirteenth day.

Speaking about the campaign, Caine said the latest phase of operations includes some of the heaviest kinetic strikes carried out so far across the theater. According to him, the effort is focused on degrading the military capabilities of Iran and reducing threats to U.S. forces and allied partners in the region.

Caine said the United States Central Command continues targeting Iran’s ballistic missile systems and drone capabilities that have been used against U.S. forces, military installations and regional partners.

The campaign also includes strikes against elements of the Iranian Navy responsible for mine-laying operations that threaten commercial shipping and freedom of navigation through critical waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz.

Caine added that the operation is also targeting parts of Iran’s defense industrial base to prevent the country from rebuilding military systems that could threaten American interests or allies in the future.
