Deadly Runway Collision at LaGuardia

An Air Canada flight collided with a fire truck while landing at LaGuardia Airport, resulting in a deadly runway accident.

The aircraft, a CRJ-900 arriving from Montreal with more than 70 passengers onboard, suffered severe damage on impact. Both the pilot and co-pilot were killed after the cockpit was destroyed.

Dozens of people were injured, including passengers and emergency responders on the ground. The fire truck had reportedly been cleared onto the runway during an emergency response, and air traffic control audio indicates last-second warnings before the collision.

The airport remained closed for hours following the incident, halting all flights. Federal investigators are now examining runway coordination and air traffic control decisions as they work to determine the cause.
