ChatGPT Can Now Help You Order Groceries — via DoorDash
DoorDash is expanding its reach into artificial intelligence by launching a grocery shopping feature inside OpenAI’s ChatGPT, marking a major step in how consumers may shop for food in the future.
Through the new integration, users can ask ChatGPT for meal ideas, recipes, or grocery suggestions, then turn those recommendations into a shopping list powered by DoorDash. Once the list is ready, users are redirected to the DoorDash app to review items, make changes, and complete their order.
The feature is currently available to select users, with a wider rollout expected in the coming weeks. DoorDash says the goal is to meet customers where they already look for inspiration — increasingly inside AI-powered chat tools rather than traditional apps or search engines.
The move also escalates competition in the rapidly evolving AI shopping space. Earlier this month, Instacart became the first grocery delivery company to launch a ChatGPT integration, positioning itself as an early mover.
DoorDash’s entry signals that major delivery platforms are racing to secure visibility inside AI assistants that millions of users now rely on daily.
While many companies have experimented with ChatGPT shopping integrations, grocery ordering has remained relatively rare due to its logistical complexity.
