Casio’s Moflin: The AI Pet With 4 Million Personalities
Casio has introduced Moflin, a palm-sized furry robot powered by advanced AI, described as an “emotional companion” rather than a toy.
Unlike traditional robots that rely on commands, Moflin communicates through touch, sound, and movement, gradually developing its own personality over time.
According to Casio, the AI can generate more than 4 million potential personality variations, making each Moflin unique to its owner after about 50 days of interaction. Designed to mimic the bond between humans and pets, Moflin coos, changes posture, and reacts to everyday handling, building what its creators call an emotional connection.
While not meant to replace real animals, Casio envisions Moflin as a supportive presence that could ease stress, regulate emotions, and provide companionship. The company highlights potential applications in schools, homes, and elder care centers, where emotional support and comfort are especially valuable.
The launch comes at a time when AI-driven tools are increasingly integrated into daily life, raising questions about how technology can blend with human experiences.
