Capitol Police Investigating Nazi Symbol in GOP Office
A political firestorm erupted in Washington after a U.S. flag modified to feature a swastika — a symbol tied to Nazi Germany’s genocidal regime — was discovered inside the Capitol Hill office of Dave Taylor, a Republican member of the House representing Ohio.
The image, obtained by Politico, shows the flag pinned behind a staffer’s cubicle during a virtual meeting.
Other items, including a pocket Constitution and a congressional calendar, were also visible, but it remains unclear who placed the flag there or why.
Taylor condemned the symbol as “vile and deeply inappropriate,” distancing himself and his office from the act.
He said he had directed an immediate investigation in coordination with United States Capitol Police.
His spokesperson suggested the display may have been an act of vandalism.
