‘Call of Duty’ Co-creator Vince Zampella Dies in Car Crash

Vince Zampella, the legendary video game developer who co-created the massively successful “Call of Duty” franchise and founded Respawn Entertainment, has died at the age of 55.
His death was announced by parent company Electronic Arts on Monday.
Zampella, the former CEO of developer Infinity Ward, was instrumental in launching the first-person shooter series in 2003, which has since sold over half a billion copies worldwide and expanded into modern warfare settings with a live-action film in development.
In recent years, he led the creation of the acclaimed “Star Wars Jedi” action-adventure games. Electronic Arts released a statement honoring Zampella, calling his influence on the gaming industry “profound and far-reaching.”
