800 Years of History: Brussels Cathedral Becomes Immersive Light Show

To celebrate its 800th anniversary, the Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula in Brussels, Belgium, is hosting a breathtaking immersive light show throughout December.
The spectacle, titled “LUMINISCENCE,” transforms the historic Gothic interior using precise 360-degree video mapping projected onto the walls, vaults, and columns, highlighting the building’s intricate Brabantine Gothic architecture.
Accompanied by a live choir and a musical score, the one-hour show blends light, sound, and narrative to tell the cathedral’s history, including its role hosting weddings and funerals for the Belgian royal family.
Divided into four parts, the experience culminates in a reflective finale on the passage of time, offering visitors a unique way to engage with eight centuries of heritage.
