Brawl Breaks Out Live in Mexico City’s Congress
A physical fight erupted inside the Congress of Mexico City when women lawmakers from rival parties clashed during a live broadcast, shocking viewers across the country.
The confrontation began after members of the conservative PAN party approached the main podium to protest what they described as a rule violation by the ruling Morena party during a debate over reforms to the city’s transparency oversight agency.
Video footage showed lawmakers from both sides yelling, slapping, elbowing, and pulling hair as Morena members attempted to forcibly remove the protesters.
PAN officials later accused the ruling party of resorting to violence, while Morena leaders countered that the opposition abandoned debate in favor of disruption.
The incident ended with PAN lawmakers leaving the chamber and the Morena majority continuing the session alone.
