Andrew is the First Senior UK Royal Arrested in Centuries

Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, has become the first senior member of the British royal family to be arrested in modern history.

The 66-year-old was taken into custody during an early morning police raid at his home on the Sandringham estate on his birthday, suspected of misconduct in public office related to his decades-long friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

After more than ten hours in custody, he was released “under investigation” while police continued searches at his former residence, Royal Lodge.

King Charles expressed his “deepest concern” but stressed that “the law must take its course,” carefully distancing himself from his brother.

Andrew has denied all accusations, including sexual assault claims by Virginia Giuffre, whom he paid millions to settle a 2022 lawsuit without admitting wrongdoing.

The arrest marks the latest extraordinary development in a yearslong scandal that has shredded Andrew’s reputation and plunged the monarchy into its biggest crisis since the death of Princess Diana.
