Anderson Cooper Leaving 60 Minutes After Nearly 20 Years
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper is stepping away from 60 Minutes after nearly two decades with the program. The veteran journalist confirmed he will not renew his CBS contract, officially ending his role as a correspondent.
Cooper joined 60 Minutes in 2007 while continuing to anchor Anderson Cooper 360° on CNN. He said his decision is centered on family, explaining that he wants to spend more time with his young sons.
CBS praised Cooper’s years of reporting and noted the door remains open should he choose to return in the future. Despite departing 60 Minutes, Cooper will continue anchoring at CNN after renewing his contract in 2025.
