Record Breaker: 6,500 Drones and Fireworks Light Up Abu Dhabi’s New Year Sky
The Sheikh Zayed Festival in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba area ushered in the New Year with a record-breaking spectacle, featuring the world’s largest coordinated drone show.
A fleet of 6,500 drones took to the sky, forming nine giant 3D aerial formations, including images of the UAE’s founding president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the current leader, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in what is believed to be the largest single drone performance for a New Year’s event.
The celebration also included a 62-minute-long fireworks display, with the entire production aiming to secure five Guinness World Records.
Massive crowds gathered at the festival grounds to witness the elaborate light shows and pyrotechnics, marking one of the most ambitious and technologically advanced New Year’s celebrations globally.
