Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys Says U.S. Remains Engaged on Ukraine

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said the United States remains actively engaged in diplomacy over Ukraine, pushing back against concerns that Washington would step back and leave Europe to shoulder the burden alone.

Answering a question from a Pulse correspondent, Budrys said the past year has shown continued U.S. involvement under President Trump, calling it a positive development for transatlantic cooperation. He emphasized that Europe and the United States are still working together on diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine.

Budrys noted that while Europe is financing many Ukrainian needs, the United States is moving faster on sanctions against Russia. As the European Union prepares its 20th sanctions package ahead of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he said Europe must become more ambitious and adopt stronger tools to increase pressure on Moscow.
