How Mamdani Was Pulled into the Epstein Files
Following the release of the U.S. Department of Justice’s trove of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents, a wave of disinformation flooded social media, falsely claiming a shocking personal connection between the convicted sex offender and New York City’s first Muslim mayor, Zohran Mamdani.
Viral posts, which garnered millions of views, alleged a biological link and circulated fabricated images supposedly showing a young Mamdani with Epstein and other powerful figures in 2009.
Further insinuations wrongly tied Mamdani’s mother, filmmaker Mira Nair, to the Epstein files.
However, fact-checkers quickly debunked these claims, tracing the source of the images to a satirical platform that openly uses artificial intelligence to generate political content.
The timeline itself disproves the narrative: Mamdani was born in 1991, meaning he was 18 years old in 2009, not a small child as depicted in the manipulated photos.
This incident highlights how major news events are exploited to spread AI-generated forgeries and target public figures with baseless, viral conspiracy theories.
